Summer Term 2017
The BA-Seminar "The relations of the EU to Turkey" is held by Prof. Wolfgang Wessels and Dr. Yvonne Nasshoven. It deals with EU-Turkey relations and examines both the opportunities and challenges for the EU and Turkey, as well as the perspectives for this relationship. In this context, recent developments and issues (future of the European Union and its enlargement policy, migration, the Cyprus conflict, regional conflicts (especially with Iran, Syria-Iraq and the Kurdish question), as well as the relations to Russia and the USA) will be discussed. Based on an introduction into the institutional architecture of the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU and an overview on EU-Turkey relations, students will prepare topics independently and present and discuss them in class afterwards. The grading will be based on the oral presentation during the second part of the seminar as well as on a seminar paper in the end. The seminar is addressed to BA-students with a basic knowledge of the system of the European Union.
